Pizza Night – 24 Sep 2011

Our well attended Pizza night at the Kessler Family Chabad House on Winton Road was a success!  We had Jewish Deaf community members and RIT students as well.  Joshua Soudakoff, our leader for the weekend events, led a great discussion on Rosh Hashanah and the significance of the upcoming New Year (High Holy Days).

More insights from Josh Soudakoff! We learned some Talmudic (Gemara) insights into both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and how we can try to apply the humbleness and respectfulness of Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses, our teacher and leader) to our daily lives.  An animated discussion, question and answer session ensued well past our intended closing time!

Meir Shaar provided some additional stories from the Gemara (Talmud-Rabbinical commentaries) and Mishnah (Rabbinic stories and discussions on the Torah portions).

Meredith Low poses a question during the evening event.

This picture shows some of the attendees, including Regina K., Dan S., Meir S., Robyn M., Beth M., and Carolyn S.  All enjoyed eating the great pizza meal from Abba’s Pizza at the Kessler Family Chabad House!  When our stomachs were full, we learned about the upcoming New Year!

Our poster for the event!
